Panasonic has recently launched the all new budget friendly Panasonic Eluga Arc in India at just Rs 12,490. Yes, this phone will only be available in India, at least for now!
But before you get too excited, there are a few of things that Panasonic has tried to cut costs from.
Underneath the hood, the Panasonic Eluga Arc is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, 2GB RAM, and 16GB internal storage capacity, which can be expanded to 32GB thanks to an external microSD card. In terms of display, the smartphone is equipped with a 4.7-inch 2.5D curved glass capacitive HD (a 720p) screen. Now this could give a better in-hand feel and allow users a better single-handed mode usage.
Now while most handset manufacturing companies launch their devices with the latest Marshmallow OS, Panasonic seems to be stuck with Android Lollipop 5.1 for the Eluga Arc.
On the back, there is an 8MP Camera with auto-focus, a single-LED flash and has video recording capabilities. Just below the LED Flash, you have the Fingerprint Sensor. For the selfie shots, you get a 5MP front camera setup on the front side.
Now, the handset isn’t a true dual-sim device. It supports hybrid-SIM functionality, where users have the opportunity to either insert two SIMS or a single one along with an external microSD card for storage. Other connectivity options include 4G LTE with VoLTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS. The smartphone also comes along with an infrared sensor (IR Blaster as most people call it), which can be used as a remote control for myriad household electronic appliances.
Well, we haven’t talked about the battery yet. The battery is what will power up this device. And surprisingly and much to everyone’s disappointment, the Panasonic Eluga Arc is fitted with an 1800mAh non-user replaceable battery. This is where the biggest cost cutting has been done by Panasonic. When more and more companies are launching phones with massive batteries, the 1800mAh battery on this one, well, it’s an Infant among others!
